Who says the handling is compromised using 16" wheels as opposed to 17"'s with lower profile tyres
Alfa 156's and 147's came with 16"s as a performance upgrade option for a very good reason... They could have put 17"s on at the factory, they didn't...
No offense, but this is a generalization towards the many many posts that have gone before and will appear again and again.
We all complain about the suspension setup wearing its bushes quickly but there was a reason why double wishbone suspension was used and a steering lock of 2.1 turns was used.
We all took a test drive of the car when we bought it right? Did anyone actually sit in the car and think "well the handling is terrible and needs fettling"?
Or did we all sit there with a grin from ear to ear while throwing the car effortlessly from bend to bend? I know I did
It really does put a smile on my face when I see posts of owners putting lower profile tyres on bigger wider rims along with suspension upgrades and then praise their setups as being dramatic... Ermmmm. Of course it will be, replacing old tyres for new and worn shocks and springs will do that for any car
New standard shocks and springs with quality tyres will give a dramatic difference anyway mate, trust me on that
But... of course Alfa Romeo don't know anything about handling, Didn't invest millions on development and countless hours in road testing, yet we all seem to know better than them
