2.4 JTD sump repair

I have a cracked sump which I plan on repairing with PetroPatch or simular. Should I remove the sump to do this or just do it in situ? If I do remove it do I have to remove timing belt covers to do this? The leak appears to be on the back of sump just above the notch for access to the centre bolt near the drain plug. I will be doing this when I have the gearbox out so should have good access to the sump.

I would imagine as long as it is drained and clean on the surface that you are applying the repair then I can't see any problem doing it in situe. Would almost certainly be easier on a workbench but hassle removing it.....

If you can get the sump off, get another sump. Try Autolusso. I don't believe a patch repair will work/last.
