Low Acceleration(power) and smoke at higher revs on GT JTD
I've got a 2008 GT Blackline, 1.9 JTDM Q2 - remapped in Sep 2008 (in case it matters), and I've been having a problem since Monday evening.
On Monday driving home from work I noticed that there was a sound like wooshing air or water when I accelerated. It seemed to be the sounds only, but yesterday morning I noticed that it seemed to be affecting the power too. And after work heading home I noticed that the car was making the noise when the revs were trying to get higher in any gear and the acceleration was much slower too, but as soon as the gear was changed up the car would move. I also noticed a lot of smoke coming out the back as the car is struggling before the gear change up.
I'm guessing that there's an air intake either to the turbo or into the engine that's got a leak, but having had a quick search on the forum I can't find anyone who has had the same problem as me. Happy to be corrected as I really don't know - only from the way the car has behaved...
Before I call the garage up I wanted to see if anyone had an idea as to what it might be (is it something I can check myself first?) - is it costly? I had to ride the 16 miles into work on my bike today - I'd intended to improve my fitness, but on my own terms, not cos my GT is sick (again!).
