Help Help, where'd 147 reverse go??

I have a bit of a problem with the wife's car.

As above, it no longer selects reverse gear, but can select all other gears.
Also has a bit of a floppy stick - and no-one wants one of those

Car is a '05 reg 147 1.6 Turismo SE

I've done a search and can see there have been problems with the gear linkage plate on top of box.

Is this likely to be the culprit ?

The problem first manifested with reverse being difficult to select, but now gone altogether.

I'm hoping the answer is yes, as the part looks to be quite cheap - about 1300 cheaper than the garage is quoting her !!

gone but never forgotten . new blue

The gear selector bushes normally result in a stiff gear change, with the gear stick not centring itself.

The sloppiness could be caused by the gear stick balljoint cracking, which is a fairly time consuming job.

For the sake of 30mins work and what ever the bushes cost, I'd have the selector plate apart just to be on the safe side, and see if that improves things first.
