Another lucky Irish Alfisti reporting in
In my 8 years of Alfahood both of my 156's (GTA and 2.0L tspark) have started 1st time EVERY time without fail and covered 90K miles between them, they have never let me down.
These cars were driven enthusiastically, as well as 30K miles the GTA has done a couple of thousand track miles without a hitch!
Well okay I did pre-emptively replace the front GTA wishbones mainly due to bush wear but I would regard that as fair wear and tear for what the car had been through..
And okay the GTA brake discs did warp after heavy track use before the brake system was upgraded..
And a engine reaction rod was pre-emptively replaced in the GTA, no big deal ten quid or so (its just a simple type of cushioning bolt to prevent transmission of the shock associated with sudden application of torque.)
Again fair wear and tear I think.
The only actual part failures were a the motor for the rear electric window on the GTA after three years, and on the TSpark to replace the AFM under warranty after 2 years (but the car was sill driveable).
To be honest the T-Spark didn't require any extra effort from me other than checking fluid levels etc - and only needed the odd top up.
I get the GTA inspected and serviced more regularly because of the amount of trackdays it does.
I know quite a number of people with 156's who have all been lucky too, in fact the only bad reports I have heard personally from owners are for fleet run selespeed 156's where the selespeed boxs gave problems in many of the cars.
