It's been a good day.
Thermostat replaced, I was a little wary when Alternative Autos said they used Facet as I've read indifferent feedabck in the forum, however I can say it now sits rock solid at 90 degrees. So, anyone saying a temp gauge reading of 70-80 deg is normal for the JTD is blowing smoke.... it's only normal if your thermostat is faulty.
What a faff repacing it, there are 4 pipes, all secured with those one-time clips, the top-most hose is a PITA to get back on with a standard hose clip owing to lack of space...but got there in the end.
As so often happens every time I go near the engine bay I had my disaster for the day, dropping one of the 'stat bolts down the hole next to the bonnet release catch...had to get the bl00dy bumper off to retrieve that.
Also replaced a faulty glow plug, the dash warning was getting on my t1ts, sure enough one read open circuit, replaced and all is well.
And finally fitted my aluminium undertray that the missus bought me for christmas...ain't she a darlin'?
All the best
