The air con compressor story..when its cold outside..
Right some may (or not) be aware I am having fun with my Air con..I am doing all of it myself as I'm a cheapskate...
Now I fitted a new relay today, (J20 one) hoping this would fix my problem of the compressor not engaging. Still no luck...I can maually engage the compressor by crossing the red and brown wires for a second.
Right where I am up too...
The red and brown wires are for the electro magnet that engages the compressor, if these are crossed, or switched together using the relay, the circuit is compleat and the magnet clicks.
The Blue/White and Blue/Red wires are from the ECU, the Blue/White one comes from the ECU side the Blue/Red one is from the ignition.
The ECU sends a signal along the Blue/White wire to engage the relay, but only if the pressure switch and the air conditioning ECU say it is ok to do so.
I have put a multi meter accross the blue wires, without the relay on the circuit..which is probable wrong..any way I was getting a pulse between 9.5v and 14v which might have been down to the fact i shouldn't have had the multi meter where it was..if it stops raining i might go and try with the relay in. This pulse was always present however with or with out the switch fo rht ecompressor being turned on the dash.
Now I could really do with someone with a working Air Con system to try something for me...
If its raining with you and say about 9-10 degrees outside could you got and turn your temp to min and the air to auto and turn on the compressor and listen if the compressor kicks in...
To those in the know would it kick in no matter what the temp?
