Hello to everyone!
I'm looking for some advice from you learned fellows; who seem a friendly bunch.
I am thinking of getting back into Alfa ownership; I previously owned a 99 GTV 2.0-revised version around 8 years ago which always put a
on my face.
I've been looking at an Alfa 147 Ti at a used car dealer in the northwest of England with the following spec:
Ti, 56 reg, Red, 5 door, 42k miles, service history (non Alfa/Indi). Cam belt and water pump changed in 2010, no sign of spark plug change.
On inspection, the Variator sounds like it needs replacing, it requires 2 new front tyres with tracking(advisory on MOT) and quite a few stone chips to the front with the odd age related body paint mark.
The car is up for sale at £4450; considering the above, plus it requires a cam belt at the next service and road tax. I thought i would start my offer low (£3700) and work up as part of the haggling process. Well, the salesman just ushered me out of his office with no haggling what so ever
I have e-mailed the garage increasing my offer to £3900 maximum but Iíve had no reply.
I personally feel that my revised offer is fair considering the work that is required on the car. Just wondering if you think my offer is fair or is the car worth more? The car seems to be around £500-800 more than similar cars with the same mileage/age etc listed on autotrader.
Thanks in advance for your replies and hopefully i will be an alfa owner again soon!
