156 battery installation?

Hello chaps,

I bought a Bosch S5 Silver plus 780CCA 77Ah to replace an outgoing 450CCA unit for my 1.9 16v diesel. Any pointers or tips for installation? Where does the strap unclip for starters? What is with the little plastic box on top of the existing battery? Do I need it? New battery weighs a tonne, so much for dynamic handling...

A bolt holds a strap on the left side of battery. So you have to unscrew it to change the battery. At least on the GT.

Here's a useful link on this subject Alfa 147 GTA Battery

13mm std hex nut on the engine side holds the strap.
Fuse box on the +ve may have two small Philips screws into the top of the battery (but they have probably cone by now). And yes you do need the fuse box...!!
Then just the std nut on the battery clamps.

ALWAYS remove -ve first and replace it last.
