I noticed earlier in this thread a suggestion of H4/4 HID kits. My experience on a motorbike with reflector headlight of these is frightening. HID kits start with a bright flash then dim and gradually brightening over a period of 10 - 15 seconds. With twin tube HIDs one lights one goes out and the other switches on - bright flash followed by dim light is not fun I promise you!
Also on mine the twin tube meant that the light source is not in the correct place and no amount of fiddling could get anything like good beam pattern on either high or low let alone both.
Summary - truly shocking, even frightening and I sent mine back and fitted H4/3 with moving shroud. Still not perfect with reflector light (quite a bit of scatter) but I haven't failed an MOT yet.
If I get stopped I would plead ignorance and stick with, "I know nothing, that is what it was like when I bought it."
I suspect the worst I would get would be a correction notice.
