Water in Driver's Footwell - Any Ideas?
I've noticed recently that there is a significant amount of water in the driver's footwell, which seems to be settling just behind the rubber strip on the carpet that sits under the pedals. The carpet around the doors, pedals and centre console is dry so the water seems to be coming in under the carpet and soaking into the soundproofing material unnderneath. When I'm driving the weight of my feet on that part of the carpet then soaks up the water into the carpet and then the floormat.
I've had a look around the forum and the chief culprit seems to be the scuttle area around the windscreen but when I pour water around there it flows freely through the drain holes and into the engine bay (though I haven't removed the trim to do this). The other common offender seems to be a blocked aircon drain, though from other posts that seems to soak the passenger footwell rather than the drivers side. I'm hoping to get it investigated further in the next day or two but in the meantime has anyone got/had this problem and got any pointers as to where to look (I know from previous experience that the source water ingress can be hard to find). Many thanks.
