A little advice and recommendation required here...
On removing the n/s/f wheel the other day for an unrelated reason, I noticed that the shock had been leaking oil. I had been thinking that that corner of the car had been a little bouncy recently.
I have a Autodelta sport/comfort suspension kit on the car which lowers it by 25mm and makes the ride firmer, although I must say that I had always thought the shocks were a tad on the weak side which was more noticeable on high speed bumps such as motorway irregularities. The V6 is a heavy lump after all and it needs some good support.
This is the second time that one of these shocks has failed and started to leak. Once replaced under warranty but sadly out of warranty this time. I know they don't last forever but its disappointing to see failure in such a relatively short period, especially when the original Alfa shocks were at 100K miles when they were replaced and were still not leaking, nor really all that worn! I won't be buying them again.
The main reason I bought this kit is because the shocks were non-adjustable. I have no idea about adjusting shocks and so would forever be ineffectively fiddling with them to get the 'best' performance. I want something I can fit and forget.
So, after all that explanation, does anyone have a recommendation for a pair of front shocks that to suit a V6 with 25mm lowering and an aggressive braker (as I have mega brakes!) - but preferably that don't need adjusting and are fine out of the box. Please, I can only really use recommendations from people who have a V6 and who have tried them themselves, otherwise what's the point?
Any advice gratefully taken
PS After taking a look, the garage is going to fit them, not me. I'm a reasonably competent home mechanic but those bolts look welded in!
