I've had Conti ContactSport, Michelin Pilot Sport and Goodyear F1 on mine.
Contis were noisy and unpredictable in the wet. F1s stick like nothing else but don't wear brilliantly (perhaps 12-15k on the front?) and the Michelins were the best for life, covering over 20k on the front.
When you factor in cost, F1s win hands down. They may not last as long, but they tend to be around 20% cheaper than the Michelins. Whilst they are still marginally more expensive per mile, they do offer a much better handling car.
One caveat; Michelin Pilot Sport are better in cold, wet conditions. I'm considering getting a set of steel 15" wheels with winter tyres, just like our clever cousins in europe.
