156 V6

Help Evap purge valve.

Hi all, recently bought a 156 v6 and loving it although it does have one or two faults that I am fixing as I go along. It throws up 3 faults on ecuscan, no lights on though, one of which is evap purge valve circuit malfunction, so wing liner off and checking it this afternoon, resistance accross switch is 24 ohms which is within tolerance, voltage on wires is between 5.7 and 6.5 on live side, and battery voltage on earth side ( from batterry live to wire) this is at tickover, my questions are, does this sound right?or should it open and close? does the switch work with a ground pulse? if so this would point to an earth fault somewhere wouldn't it? does the live voltage sound right or should it be closer to 12volts?

Mine clatters away like a bag of spanners at times, but I take it its quite happy doing that so if it aint broke...

The Rover 75 I had last also had the same problem, sometimes the purge valve sounded like a diesel on idle!

I will watch your thread with interest...
