Pump priming problems

On my Alfa 147 Selepeed when I open the door the pump is not priming so I know when this happens I am unable to select any gears. The only problems I had prior to this was every now and again the car would neutralise and if I waited around an hour things would reset and be okay, I have checked for error codes with multiecuscan and the only error was brake switch error which I cleared. Has anybody else had similar problems to me and could it possibly have something to do with the drivers door switch not working and allowing the pump to prime. All help much appreciated.

Even if the drivers door switch isn't working, I'm sure it should still prime the pump as soon as you turn the key to "Mar" and providing you wait for the pump to stop it should be fine.
