Re: New uplifted 156

I`m looking around for a 1-2 year old 156sw at the moment and there are pre reg new shape jobbies for almost the same money.
Considering the entry level 159 will be ptched at 19k plus I reckon a nearly new 156 for 11-13k is very good value.

Re: New uplifted 156

Loads of 156 SW around, Ive been "window shopping" for a while for one....Veloces, Black and White Garage, JCS Kegworth plus the Stealers have quite few. Just missed a delivery milage 1.8 Veloce SW with multispokes and m/changer at Dixon N Leeds, 12995 a couple of weeks ago.

yes thick,, SW = Station wagen or estate...

Alfa makes the only SW in the world that has less boot space than the saloon.. but it looks good..

Re: New uplifted 156

i am inclined to go for the face lifted 156, before the 159. Mainly due to money restrictions i have to say, as i have the new interior 156, but old shape, the change to the new one would be minimal i would imagine?

Re: New uplifted 156

I'm definitely going for a face-lift 156. Just waiting for the right moment - when they start selling the 159 and dump all the remaining 156's on the market.

Hoping to find a nice green one.....

Re: New uplifted 156

I think it is fair to say that with the discounts available from specialists a new 156 is currently a good buy. I got a new 156 recently at a big discount - I'm pretty sure that the 159 will be more expensive and big discounts are unlikely while it is new (certainly for 2 years or so). The 156 sold pretty near list for a few years.

Any new 156 will depreciate heavily, but if you get a good discount then the long-term prospects should be OK. For me the 156SW is the perfect size as well (it may have a small boot but with the seats folded there is loads of space for moutain bikes etc). The 159 will be heavier, larger, and I'm not yet sure on the looks... I'll probably have one one day but for a few years the 156 will keep me smiling!

Re: New uplifted 156

I agree about the new 156, but why on earth would you buy it in green?. i have a red one now, and i would really like a new shape 156 in red, although i am not sure that the visual differences are enough to make it look (to all) like a new different car?. I would probably buy the new shape 156 in black,

Re: New uplifted 156

not changing mine for at least another 2 years - will wait and see what 2nd hand 159s are like and then decide. Would like an SW and a diesel next in black with 17' multispokes or supersports with leather. not fully gone on the facelift but in 2 years time they will be an option for me.

Re: New uplifted 156

I don't like the big nose 156 myself, so I would prefer the last of the small noses.
But the 20v and 6 speed box would be nice.

Lighter colours are better IMO

Ok, so now that is eventually sorted out and I don`t feel quite as thick, I reckon a nice new 156 will do me untill I can afford a Brera (not a BreraSW ). I wonder of the GTAs will go down to low price, I may even swing over to a 147 if could get a GTA for a good price.

Failing that, a 'dark-side' oiler would do as I can then chip it to death for some extra grunt. I love my V6 but I would like the economy of the oiler.

The 159 is ok but looks a little odd to my eye. Agressive front like a SZ and BMW hybrid, sides a little like a 166 (that crease line reminds me of them) and a normal 156 rear which then looks a little pudgy. I`ve never found the 156 rear all that nice, it always needs a little something else, like a spoiler. The facelift little boot flange helped, though. Its easier to say I don`t like it all that much when faced with top dollar prices, I may cahnge my mind in 3 years when the ex-warrenty ones start to appear on the market

Do you remember that blu-tack blue colour when they launched it?
That's a bit iffy!

And of course any 156 with a high rise rear spoiler looks a right bloody mess.

Why worry about it looking new? I prefer the looks of the pre-facelift 156 - so I was happy that the GTA kept those looks!

I think the facelifted ones look good in dark colours... but it is a slightly less elegant design.

The GTA front and rear "skirts" look far better than standard...

As to green - my 2.5 V6 was green! I like it!

You know, I've posted this pic a couple of times before on this forum, and each time someone always mentions my rusty discs

(They always seem to go like that just after I have washed the car. The next time I drive it, they get scrubbed clean anyway.)

It is!

I must be in the minority here but I prefer the facelifted 156. There I've said it! I'll just go see my therapist now.
