156 Lower Front Wishbone Play
I've got a knocking sound coming from the front end of my 2005 156 JTS which tend to happen when driving at lowish speeds not particularly in corners and not when you try to make it happen by driving over speed bumps, pot holes, etc. It can also be produced by simply bouncing the near side front end. Having read through various threads it seems like it might be the front lower wishbone (the ARB bushs and droplinks were changed last year so probably not that).
I've just had the wheel off and was wondering how much if any play is normal in the various LWB bushes. The back one where it links to the frame moves 1 or 2 mm up and down with a crowbar between it and the subframe, and the one at the fork allows you to wiggle the fork by a few degrees left and right by hand. Should these be rock hard or is a bit of movement normal?
Just wanted to check before replacing them as there are lots of threads where people have gone through a long list of changing parts without solving there problem, also it's cold so looking for an excuse not to do the job with frozen fingers.
