No not me, if you said NEWbawn you'd be closer, not sure where oldbawn is... i assuem around dublin?
I've been offline the past 2 days thanks to Eircom & a broke telephone wire
Mick i'm releived to say that i sourced an AFM near Carlow. I had a brain storm during my offline experinec & thought of asking the guy that fitted the timing belt to alfenia last feburary/march.
I had to drive there, 35 miles, with the AFM disconnected...... spluttered when ticking over but when moving she was wicked fast
...ate fuel by the gallon though.
When the AFM was connect she would not rev past 3000rpm
The guy sold me a 2nd hand afm & air intake pipe that connectsto the throttled body for €50..... unforunatelt i ahd replace that pipe only 2 months ago, costing €40 ... such is life.
Stopping at a picnic area on the way home, I produced my tools & a can of Carb Cleaner. 10 mins later Alfenia had a very good 2nd hand AFM in her..... who said *modern* car can't be fixed by the side of the road.
RESULT:Alfenia is driving better now that ever before.
In hind sight my mistake were
1. Cleaning the orignal AFM with WD40
2. Using the wool off a cotton bud to clean in past the sides of the little sensor itself, therefore breaking the heating element,,,, i suspect. I tried cleaning it severla times afterwards with crab cleaner & eevn used a hair dryer to dry it
3. I should had replaced it sooner ..... maybe
