Plans have changed now, unfortunately I won't be continuing with this project. I've just picked up a '54 plate Sportwagon 2.4 20v Ti that I will be going forward with instead, lots of the parts from this saloon will probably be going on the Sportwagon and once I get started with it I'll make a new project thread for that.
I've decided I will put my green saloon back to standard spec, except for the following:
Leave A/C delete
Leave throttlebody delete
Leave EGR delete
Leave remapped ECU installed
Leave battery to boot
Leave GTA short shifter but replace the knob with a 5-speed one
Replace Eibach ARBs with GTA ARBs
Swap 17" teledials for some 17" Sports with 215/45/17 Pirelli P Zeros that I've got
Swap Sport leather for either some nice cloth recaros or maybe standard leather.
Replace FMIC with a side mount intercooler but a slightly bigger one than factory, which I took off another 2.4 I broke up.
Replace 6-speed GT Q2 gearbox with my old 5-speed box.
Replace Wizard cat-back exhaust system with the twin exit factory system off my new 20v. I might cut open the 20v backbox first and remove the packaging and weld perf tube inside so it still gives a bit of a nice note.
Remove KW coilovers - I think I will try some low mileage GT 3.2 shocks and springs I picked up off ebay a while ago, to keep things feeling a bit firm and planted but still standard-ish
Swap BMC CDA induction for a big cone filter I have and re-route it up into the wing so it gets a nice cool air feed.
Going to be selling some of the parts from this green saloon like the GT Q2 gearbox, Wizard exhaust (2.0 Twinspark spec), Sport leather Recaros and 17" anthracite GTV teledials and then either try and sell the car or maybe give it to my brother to use for a bit, so he can sell his 1.9 JTD. Will put the BMC CDA, Eibach ARBs, KW coilovers, FMIC, water/meth injection and big brake kit on the 20v, and build a new exhaust system for it in 70mm stainless steel
The reason for changing was because with the saloon, whenever we go anywhere as a family it gets left at home and I end up driving my Mrs's Golf which I hate. This way, we can at least always take the Alfa. I'm sure with a few tweaks the 20v will make every bit as good a car, I just hope it has the character this one had..
