Re: Air con (climate control)
Okay guys, I don't want to sound like I'm teaching ye granny how to suck eggs, but, you must run your a/c atleast 5 mins every week through the winter or the seals and gaskets will dry out. This is because whilst the a/c is running oil is circulated around the system with the refrigerant, thus keeping the gaskets nice and "soaked" in oil. If the gaskets dry out they shrink and there's your leak. A quick check to find out if the a/c is working is. Find the compressor, the two pipes going to it (suction and discharge) feel the bigger pipe of the two whilst the a/c is running and it should be extremely cold. If it isn't you got a problem. You should also be able to see the centre of the pulley wheel spinning if the clutch has engaged.
Your friendly neighbourhood, air con enginner.
