Airbag, stereo and clicking noise in 156
Hello to all of you.
I recently bought a 156 2.0 TS on the cheap with a number of issues which I have been slowly sorting out with help from the search function on this forum being used regularly.
Apart from a slight clunk in the front suspension which I think is the ARB bushes or the cheap drop links I now only have a few outstanding problems which I do not know how to resolve.
The first and most pressing issue is the Airbag ECU. The light is on and MultiECUScan diagnosed it is the airbag ECU which is at fault. The Airbag ECU I have is numbered 60655033 and I have both drivers and passenger airbag in a 1998 car. However from my investigation here, it seems that 60655033 is the airbag ECU for a single airbag car and to be honest the passenger airbag cover is slightly ajar at one end. Is anyone able to confirm my suspicion before I pull apart the passenger side dashboard and if this is the wrong ECU which one should I have? If it is the correct ECU is there any compatible alternatives?
Secondly is the original cassette player, which is the quite common dark grey model which I believe is a Clarion. It is asking for a code after the battery was disconnected. I'm as certain as I can be that the codes are not known for these and these are ones on the bay for about £20 with the code, apparently working for about £20. Would it be cheaper to get it recoded at a main stealer or independent or just get a new one as I know they are hardly in high demand.
Finally there is a really irritating clacking noise coming from behind the drivers side of the dashboard. It seems to be more evident after having just set off but is there for the duration of the journey over medium sized bumps. It sounds like a flap for the aircon or something similar flapping freely and clacking behind the dashboard but it has me stumped.
The only think I can think it might be is something in the wiper linkage which I know is worn, but it does sound like it is actually in the cabin.
Sorry for the barrage of questions in my first post. Hopefully you will forgive me. I've had my Alfa for about a month now and I am really enjoying it so far.
