Testing an ABS pressure sensor
Todays Snap-on diagnostic came back with a faulty pressure sensor on my GT. Thing is it's £225! So I've been trying to think of a way of testing it before buying new or getting refurbished. What I did was find the three wires that feed the sensor, and carefully pushed a pin through the insulation of each. Yellow/black appears to be earth, yellow/red 5 volt supply and yellow/green the output. So I switch on the ignition and y/g measures 0.6 volts on my digital multimeter, I get the other half to start the engine and put her foot firmly on the break pedal, the voltage raises to 0.8 volts! I'm thinking that this should be closer to 5volts than this, and that I have confirmed the Snap-on diagnosis. Anyone have any idea if what I have done is an accurate test?
