Alfa 156 accelerator problem
My 2003 Alfa 156 2.0 JTS has a problem with it's accelerator. The best way I can describe it is it "trips out!". It drives absolutely fine then intermittently the problem will occur. It feels like the engine isn't responding to the accelerator, I can have my foot flat to the floor but it will drive like I'm only giving it a bit of gas. I've also noticed that when this happens my cruise control light will go out at the same time preventing me from using my cruise control. I can completely reset the problem by switching off and restarting my engine (I've become quite proficient at doing this on the move however I wouldn't recommend it!). I've read threads online about similar problems and that it could be the throttle position sensor so I have been to a breakers yard and bought a replacement accelerator pedal with a sensor on it and changed it myself and I'm still experiencing the same problem, I doubt that I've been unlucky enough to buy an accelerator pedal with an already defunct throttle position sensor so the problem has to lie elsewhere, I'm guessing under the bonnet but that is beyond my tool set and skill set! Does anybody have any ideas for me?
