New Alfa Owner
I have spent the last hour reading through a variety of exceptional threads on this site whilst searching for a cure to my 6 hour old car.
I have purchased an 03 156 2.4 JTD (sportwagon)
having taken it for a test drive, I didnt encounter any problems at all.
Since buying, I have noticed that there is an MCSF warning that comes on:
1. Seemingly when im in 4th and accelerate around 50 mph
2. Seemingly when going up hill
when the warning comes on, the car loses acceleration (it doesnt slow down, it still accelerates, but very very slowly).
I have read that there may be a number of things this could be MAF etc. and I have also read that I can download a diagnostic tool, get a cable and it will tell me the error code.
The car was sat idle for a while at a dealership, so iv also read that this also may attribute to the issue.
the dealership gave me 1 months warranty, so I have 1 month to figure out if fixing the car is going to cost more than I paid for it.... or I can return and get the money back. Im reluctant to take it to a local Alfa garage and pay money if the end result is I have to hand the car back.
Anyway, now onto my post.
Can someone tell me what type of cable I need to purchase, how to connect, and what software I should use?
PS. I know my way around a computer, but im about as mechanically minded as Iggle Piggle.
Thanks in advance for any help and guidance.
