It sounds like similar problems occur on 147s! I have just put my 147 in for: excessive play in steering, diesel sounds when starting and a dodgy passenger side switch. I was pleasantly surprised when they (mastercare) agreed under the 3rd year warranty to fix all of this, new steering rack, new variator, new cambelt and new switch!
now the bad bit, since then the tracking is out, the gear lever is very tight and there is a leak from the airconditioning drain system into the passenger footwell!
I have put my car in again, but they do not accept as of yet that the stiff gear lever is due to the work being undertaken, even though it was fine before it went in! I'll wait and see what happens.
I have generally found that the service is the third year is patchy and generally not very helpful at first. What they don't tell you when you buy these cars is that it is an insurance warranty in the third year and not everything is covered.
Is it possible that the gear lever thing is simply a tightened up adjuster after all of this work has been done, or a misalignment?
if anyone has had a leak from their drains on the AC and knows how to fix it simply, please can they let me know!?
Can it be something simple that a can of lube and a ramp can fix? Ideas welcomed.
nice website & interesting forum!
