Yesterday i set about doing the maintenance to my GT JTD, so bought:
5W40 5ltr oil
So went on to the garage and jacked up the car to find out that only doing it to one side didnt quiet work, so i had to jack up both sides leaving it on stands, even then since the jack places are so far in the missle of the car didnt get much altitude but ok
Took off the under protection and the engine noise protection, then found ou that the oil filter had a cover, didnt took long to find out but wasent expecting. Drained the oil and took of the old oil finter using a filter key (gladly my Calibra Turbo fits this filter also). Left it to drain and went on to change the Pollen Filter.
Now the Pollen filer is not in a easy acess especially if you arent a contortionist but managed, glad i bought it since the old ones were very dirty, still on the filter manual said that it was supposed to be one filter but it had 2 joined together and even the new ones were also a pair, also realized that somene broke the tip of the lid that closes the compartment which i'll have to glue later on.
Now i set about replaicing the air filter and the nightmare started, come on, who had the bright idea in Alfa to put the filter box in that place?
Took off the battery, took of the fuse box, took off the fuse box shelf, unscrewed the filter duct and the nut that screwed it to the battery shelf. Went under the car and i could open the filter compartment like 2cm but not enough to kaje it out and put the new one in.
Tried to get it loose but i must have missed something since i just couldnt so ended up giving up since it was late and cold. And with this i ask, what did i miss? how do you take the stupid thing off?
Soon i'll swap the stat so i'll give another bash at swaping the stupid filter, so can someone who actually managed to change the air filter with some degree of sucess help?
P.S: i've dont the maintenance on several car that i owned and friends etc and never had seen a air filter in such a stupid position, also i read this thread http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...y-service.html
and did almost exactly what superflyguy9 posted still no sucess.
