Help Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 erratic idle when hot

Hi, sorry about one more erratic idle thread...

My Alfa 1.8 TS had a problems with erratic idle since I bought it, the other problem was the loss of power when I reach 4000 Rpm, I changed the MAF today, and the car runs great and I got the power back but when it gets hot it still idles bad, it goes from 1500 Rpm to 500 Rpm constantly when I'm on the move and the car is in neutral. When I'm parked the car works fine.

I cleaned the throttle body, it was dirty and it seemed better for a while, but know its back to previous state.I also removed ICV and I just put it back so I'm not sure if it need a reset or something. I think that it might be ICV valve, vacuum leak or maybe lambda sensor.

I need some advice on this issue and I need to get it fixed fast because when I turn it gets kind of dangerous if the car is in neutral because it almost stalls and its very hard to steer.

Any advice???

Use a better fuel, keep away from supermarket fuel or cheap ones to. Use BP, Shell you will see a difference.

The problem you are describing sounds exactly the same one i had when i had the 1.8. It seems to be a controversial fix, some say you can get the latest map installed and that will cure it others say idle control valve etc etc, but have a read as this is all that worked for me.You can test it with very little effort just by disabling the ABS so your speedo does not work.

I don't think that my car has EBD, but I tried it anyway by disabling ABS, the problem still persists...
