Wondered if you might read that! That's very interesting; in particular the RWD conversion idea - was looking at a Crosswagon on a Dutch Breakers website today, which kind of prompted the post. I'll admit I have been thinking about fitting an Alfa V6 in a spare Mgbgt bodyshell I have - my local engineers is owned by an Alfa V6 owner, and he has a V6 sitting in his shop (not the 3.2, unfortunately ), which I am slowly working out of his grasp...! Got to be better than the Mazda MX5 engine Frontline fit in their MG LE 50!! ( every time I need a giggle, I look to see how much they charge for these....!
) we discussed which RWD gearbox to use; looks like the best is the one those guys in the states use in their V6 conversions on the classic Alfa spider - the ZF dogleg box; not too expensive, can take the power, and ready made bell housing available. So the only question mark is the steering rack, ehh....! H,mmmm. Looks like another sleepless night of 'bedtime engineering' awaits
Better extract my didget and finish the current work on the sportwagon first!! Then there's the missus sportwagon to service, my MGRv8 lightweight to finish, the MG Sebring V8 replica to do, MGBGT Alfa V6 to do, not to mention decorating the blasted house....! So! Start it end of next week then!!!!
The rubber room awaits..!
No doubt we'll speak soon; best of luck with the six speed issues - and fingers crossed on the other news you mentioned! (Sorry to be mysterious, but was a private conversation, fellow forum posters)
All the best, my friend
