Idle Actuator Reset
I encountered the revving problem lots of people seem to encouter and after lots of removing and cleaning of parts I thought (actually someone on here suggested) it was the Idle Actuator - purchased the FiatScan ECU and cable and hit the Idle Actuator Reset button.......All Fixed. The car idled at around 900 and drove perfectly for a while.
A couple of months later the car started increasing its idle speed to 1,000 and occasionally around 1,200 until I pumped the accelerator and it would drop back to 1,000 but never back to around 900. After another 6 months and the reving problem returned - Stupidly high revs or just stalling because it couldn't idle. Plugged FiatScan ECU back in and reset the Idle Actuator again and all was great for another 6 months.
Now I am back to idling at 1,000 and sometimes higher unless I pump the accelerator. The high revving or stalling haven't come back but it seems inevitable that its nearly that time of year again.
Do I just need a new actuator or is there another problem that causes the actuator to go crazy? I really need to work out a fix as I must be burning alot of petrol with the rev's not being correct.
