!47 16v JTD redlining and sticking
Hi i recently purchased my 1st Alfa 2 weeks ago and noticed it had an oil leak. I returned it back to the garage I bought the car from, who was very helpful and discovered where the car was leaking from.......... Job done or so I thought!
The mechanic then topped my oil up and off I went, 4 miles down the road. The car started puffing bluey smoke out of the rear exhaust. I blipped the throttle and to my suprise, the revs uncontrollably hit maximum RPMs and the only way I could stop it was by switching the ignition off.
Back to the garage and on the diagnostic which read out some intermittent faults and the garage sent me on my way. 3 times this happened and all 3 occasions the exact same problem.
Car smoking and then revs sticking on maximum RPM........ Any advice would be much appreciated.
my first impression is the fella has overfilled the oil and whilst hunting the leaks down, possibly knocked a sensor. Which recalls him repositioning a connector and unplugging it located near the front of engine just up from the alternator.
