04 Alfa Romeo 156 1.9 JTDm Cat C (drivers side rear passenger door kinked and glass broken)
OK, well…much loved car but my neighbour did try her reversing skill recently and since has been registered Cat C eligible for repairs. The insurance company has left the car with me to sort the repairs as this seems cheaper for them than getting it fixed for me.
However after some domestic discussions, I have decided to use public transport for the moment as we are struggling for time to sort anything at the moment.
Tell me, what are my options?
Should I scrap the bella (very sad!). Or if any willing soul want to sort it, then send me your offers (PM me).
Some specs that I could think of:
04 Alfa 156 1.9 JTDm Diesel 108k miles
MOT until July 2013 and if am correct about 5 months tax remaining.
1 previous owner only with service history, original manuals, 2 keys and some upgrades.
Car mostly driven by me (responsible driver!) and been under my ownership from about 50k miles.
Some photos pre and post accident. I took the bella for a regular annual photoshoot in the park only a week before the incident.
The damage is to the driver side rear passenger door kinked and the glass broken. See photo (last one in the slideshow). No airbag warnings etc. and the car locks fine although the battery is flat and need a new one or jumper to start but cant comment.
Has some upgrades including a great sounding Pioneer Bluetooth with mic cd/mp3 player with rainbow colour option so you could get the exact red colour matching the other parts of the dash if preferred. I also put in a couple of Juice door speakers.
Oil changes mostly with 0w40 or 5w40. Replaced oil, filters etc. frequently than normal intervals to maintain performance. EGR cleaned at regular intervals too. EBC greenstuff brakes all around and has good conti sports in front and goodyears in the rear. It also had brand new starter motor and glow plugs fitted recently.
It will need your skills to repair the damage. There are some odd scratches and small dings on paint work nothing major. It’s a Cat C so I am not sure on the ways for maintaining the mot or road tax so please do your own research and I am sure there will be a way for this.
