looking to make oil filter changes on my 156 v6 (2004 cf3) a tad easier...
if you have done it, you will know what i mean. the oem filter is too wide, and interfers with teh heat shield on the manifold cat, and it's way too tight to fit a band clamp filter removal tool...
so, i wanna go K&N.
they don't state a filter for the 156 v6 or anything really, bar the 2.0 TS of the 147... here's the thing, i always thought that the 2.0TS and 156 v6 filter was the same, as per alfisti quoting oem:
Alfa Romeo Ersatzteile - Italia Ricambi - Oelfilter Alfa Romeo 156 1,6TS, 1,8TS, 2,0TS, 2,5V6 71736159
inside diameter 1 - 62 mm, inside diameter 2 - 71 mm,
outside diameter 76 mm, thread measure M 20 x 1,5,
height 74 mm, cracking pressure bypass valve 1,2 bar
now the K&N filter for the 2003 2.0TS 147 is the HP-1010 with the following stats:
Part HP-1010 Product Specifications
Product Style: Oil Filters

Looks good to me! in fact it's thinner so it should make installation a breeze, and the extra 20mm in height ought not be an issue i don't think.. of course the real reason i want it is for the 1" nut on the end meaning i can easily wrench it on and off without using a oil filter tool ! hooray...
anyone use this filter on the v6? or any other K&N filter?
can forsee a problem?
I assume if it's good for the TS it should be fine for the 2.5 v6?
