Dual Mass Flywheel??
Hi, recently had a leaky clutch slave cylinder and was beginning to get some judder when moving off in 1st or 2nd. thought the two were related - the cost of the cylinder wasn't much and the job seemed straight forward so I replaced it.
Now I am having difficulty selecting 1st at all! Or 2nd. 3rd and upwards seem okay (can even select 2nd comfortably on the move if I get the revs right).
Assumed clutch might be the problem (the car has done 205k miles!) but after speaking to Mr Clutch (and as luck would have it an Alfa guy that works there) it seems to be that the dual mass flywheel is likely the culprit. Quote for replacing that and clutch... around £900+
Given the car's age, value and other imminent failures I think it might have to go (though I'm open to suggestions of how I might keep it going for a while longer on the cheap).
I'm in no position to replace the car at the moment because of other financial commitments so I'm probably going to buy a banger to tide me over for the next 9-12 months but I have to stay mobile for work. Can I drive the alfa in this condition or is it likely to sieze or break something else?
