My car rattles once approaching 3000 rpm, but it quiet at 2500 rpm and below. I suspect from reading advice and experience from other members that this maybe due to an issue with the variator solonoid.
Will this cause any damage long term? Would a faulty solonoid contribute in anyway to increased oil use?
When I was having some work done to the engine previously, the garage did state that they had to unstick the solonoid a number of times.
How does one clean and unstick the solonoid? I understand to remove it, its just two bolts and the removal of the lead.
Im guessing that once it is unstuck, a flush oil change and oil change is prudent incase contaminants are causing the issue?
Would it be prudent just to replace the solonoid incase there is a fault? I see you can get them for £30 on ebay.
Thank-you in advance
