£1300! You'd have been better taking it to an Alfa dealer.
But as a number of people have said, hunt out your nearest Alfa specialist. Where are you located, as I'm sure there's plenty of people on here who can recommend a good specialist.
I'd avoid Kwik s##t and Halfrauds, and any other fast fit centre like the plague, even for tyres and exhausts, as they're usually more expensive than the smaller independent places anyway.
One of my customers took her VW Golf to Kwik fit and they told she needed new discs and pads all round and that the cambelt was due. Firstly the discs and pads were almost new, and the car didn't have a cambelt as it has a timing chain. So these muppets really don't have a clue!
