I had this on mine, I had to drill them out, it's easier if you take the fuse/relay blocks off the front of the battery so you can get more access.
It must have been at the last service when the filter was changed for me, it was nine months later that another garage checked the filter housing and showed me that the box hadn't been sealed properly, which explained the lack of power and slight stuttering. I ended up taking a hacksaw to the box to cut some fins off so I could make new fixing holes and having to rotate the lid a bit. Did a throttle reset after cleaning the MAF and the 1.8 TS just wants to go, it's so responsive.
It's well worth checking to see if you're air box lid has had to have been bodged in the past and if it's got an air leak- fix it,
