It means your only options are (a) to order e replacement key from Alfa - fairly quick (in UK at least) but expensive, and the car will need to be taken to a dealership with Examiner to code the key to the car......or (b) get a replacement key/ ignition barrel /code box/ECU set complete - available second-hand, usually significantly cheaper than a new key from Alfa but you just need to ensure you get the correct version. And of course if you take this option you need to get the existing ignition barrel drilled out or get the replacement barrel complete with mounting, and ideally get replaemnt door and boot locks that match the replacemnt ignition barrel.
