147 exterior door handle hinge replacement
Evening all, just had what seems to be a common failure on 147's, the exterior front hinge of the drivers door handle broke off, having looked at all the options it seemed as though the only way to replace the hinge was to buy a complete handle at a ridiculous price. In fact to replace both handles even if i did it myself would have cost over 100 pounds. Anyway i decided against buying a new handle as mine are in great shape and set about manufacturing a new hinge, i thought it would be prudent to make a pair just in case the passenger side failed as well in the future. It crossed my mind that other members may be in the same predicament, if enough people are interested i could manufacture some more, i made them from stainless steel so they won't suffer from the same corrosion problems that the original hinges do, the new hinges use exactly the same mountings as the originals and the hinge can be replaced without the handle being completely removed which saves a lot of time. If anyone's interested, let me know, i think they would work out at about 25 pounds a pair, a lot better than the current options. Hope i haven't broken any forum rules, I'm not offering this as a commercial venture, just hate being ripped off.
