147 1.6TS Lusso - starting probs and warning lights
We have an Alfa 147 1.6 TS Lusso 2002. It runs fine but a couple of times now it's refused to start... No turning over, just nothing. Before, I waited a few mins and it started. I've also noticed its slightly slow to start sometimes.
Today, I drove home from work and popped into the shop. The car wouldn't start, just silence. For a split second the immobiliser light came on then stayed off. My partner told me to disconnect the battery for a couple of mins and it started but then flashed up Motor Control System Failure. The engine orange light stayed on but I got home and drove fine. I started the car a few times and it started fine but now the motor control light has gone and has been replaced with ABS ABR and EBD Failure. I should also add that occasionally I had ASR and ASB failures that clear as soon as I drive off every few days.
This motor control system failure is worrying me especially with the not starting!! Does anyone know what this is likely to be please? Am I safe to drive it? Trust this to happen after my boyfriend has gone away to work for 3 weeks!! I know you can hitch a laptop with a prog to diagnose error messages but that's not do-able til he gets home and I can't afford Alfa garage fees just yet especially if it's just to clear a message. I've read about batteries causing similar issues and the crank sensor (I think?) - could this explain it or is it something else?
Thanks in advance x
