Re: Has anyone done a brake upgrade on a 156 2.4JTD?
They howled like a cat with its tail stuck in the door using OEMs. The change to crossdrilled discs made all the difference.
They squeal as they need to be worked hard if you want to stop them glazing over. Most town driving involves gentle braking at low speeds, which will cause a performance pad to glaze. They also tend to create more dust. Combined, these will rapidly overcome any copperslip on the rear of the pads and squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal! Cross-drilled and/or grooved discs help stop this glazing taking place. Since I fitted the blackdiamond crossdrilled I haven't heard a squeak from the pads.
