got in the car a few mornings ago and adjusted the drivers sun visor and heard and felt .. click... click .. then nothing ...
Luigi's sun visor is now more flappy / floppy than a cat flap in a force 10 gale ...
(moved it to the side and the blasted thing hit me on the noggin while taking a left turn I wear glass's )
Does anyone know if they can be fixed or is it a new one .. ideally I'd like to keep his original visor if possible .. Priced up a new one (reluctantly) at the local dealers and they want £55 ... the price doesn't bother me as such .. its mostly going for a new one and the colour difference .... hence wanting to keep the one thats in place
Does anyone have one to sell .. light grey in colour is needed ... ...
Remove the two securing screws for the bracket that attaches it to the roof line and remove the entire sun visor.
The problem is: the bracket L shape peg slots into a plastic holder... This needs lubricating periodically with a quick spray of silicon lubricant or it gets stiff. Then when you go to pull down the sun visor, it sticks and turns the holder inside the visor instead forcing the holder to twist out of it's ridges instead of the holder rotating on the peg.
You need to gently pry the entire plastic assembly out of the visor, remove the bracket from the holder and lubricate it. Make sure it works freely. Disassemble it again as you need to fit the holder back into the visor
Now. The tricky bit.... Super glue will do the job but doesn't work too well with hard, non porous plastics with soft porous plastics... I would use some epoxy resin pre-mixed type in the twin tube syringe type that you can get from Halfords or any good DIY store..
You need to apply the glue along the ridges and push the holder back into the visor... Allow it to set and use a heavy book or similar to add weight on the visor in that area to give it a good hold.... Allow an hour then push the peg bracket back into the holder and refit the securing screws back to the head lining... Job done
I've got a pair from a 147 kicking around somewhere (not sure if they're the same size/fit for a 156?), I think the cover on the mirror for the passenger side flaps around though, hence why I changed mine, but that can easily be taken off. Let me know if your interested.
