147 rough start in warm weather

Hi everyone, I have a 2003 147 2.0TS Selespeed. Its had all of its services by Alfa and runs perfectly. The only issue I have is a 'cold start' on a warm/hot day - when the car has sat in the hot sun for an extended period. On start-up it will splutter very rough and stall within 2-3 secs. This will happen 2 or 3 times before it eventually starts and runs perfectly for the drive home. Once started it has no more problems. This only happens during the warmer months of the year when the temperature starts to exceed 28C. The only modification made is a K&N air filter. Has anyone got any ideas what this issue could be? Could it be the crank sensor?

Any help would be much appreciated
