Took to mechanics and he had a quick look at it, found a small leak of fluid behind the clutch pedal, and I mean very small leak. I said do you think it's the DMF and he says he doesn't think so, but either way with the leak behind the clutch pedal (inside the cabin) this should be repaired first as it it the cheapest and easiest thing to do, it needs replacing anyway and this could be causing the problem.
I"m still not convinced it is the leak causing the problems , it is the part that goes from the clutch pedal to where the fluid resovoir is on the other side of the fire wall, so as to my knowledge this is neither the master or slave cylinder, although we haven't looked at these yet as they are under the battery tray), but a small part of me is hoping it is considering what the alternative is.
For now he said drive it and see if it gets worse, depending on what symptoms develop will give him a better idea.
Also noticed that the mesh filter inside the brake fluid tank is ripped as if some idiot has put a long funnel through it when topping up the fluid. Since this system seems to be important enough to warrant such a fine built in filter, would the filter fragments floating around in the fluid cause problems??? Seeing as how the car has only been serviced by the main dealer up untill now, you would think they wouldn't force a funnel through the filter anyway....
