Re: Powerflex Bushes
Anyone got any idea on what the shore ratings are on the various OE bushes? Specifically
Front wishbone lower front
Front wishbone lower rear
Front wishbone upper
Rear trailing arm hub end
Rear arm front
Rear arm rear
I'm going to contact Powerflex to see what shore rating their replacement bushes are. Would be interesting to see just how much harder the Powerflex ones are and whether it would be preferable (in performance/compliance terms, if not cost) to obtain some non-specific bushes of an intermediate hardness from Superflex and make them up to fit the 156.
If the Powerflex ones are significantly harder than the OE ones I want to look into an alternative. What I half have in mind is to get new wishbones, rear arms and trailing arms from whatever the cheapest source is, rip out the bushes whilst retaining the inner sleeve, then drift in a suitably fabricated Superflex PU outer with the OE sleeve. Superflex offer non-custom fit bushes in a variety of sizes and shore ratings that can be machined to fit, so that would be the natural starting point. I've got suitable equipment in my workshop to undertake this, so it's not going to be overly ambitious, but may prove to be rather time consuming.
Then again, I could just forget all about this extra work and leave well alone!
