I have wanted to get into track days for as long as I have been able to drive and feel I am now in a position to realistically afford to buy and run a track car.
Ideally I would like to buy another MR2 Turbo for this purpose. Having owned a few they are an absolute hoot to drive and wickedly fast, whilst the later ones handle better than their 'widow maker' reputation might have you believe. Nothing offers as much bang for your buck in terms of outright performance.
However, I am already running a Spider and a 156 V6, so an MR2 would make a third addition to the household which is a bit impractical due to parking limitations.
One alternative would be to do a few novice days in the 156 to learn the basics and get started, without having to buy a dedicated track car at this stage.
However, I am a bit concerned about subjecting her to such a demanding work out as she is a pretty good example and that vintage of Alfa is not renowned for reliability.
So I was wondering; has anyone tracked their 156 and if so how has it stood up to the punishment?
Also does anyone have any pointers for getting started with track days?
