Installing Sony stereo
I have upgraded my Alfa 147 car stereo with a Sony CDX-S2250S.
Unfortuantely, the ISO auxiliary power connector that came with the CDX-S2250S expects 2 power sources: a permanent and a switched power supply.
As far as I can see the auxiliary power connector from the alfa provides only a permanent supply i.e. looking from the rear of the alfa 147 stereo the pins are as follows
1 CAN B, 3 CAN A, 5 AUX ANT, 7 UB
2 BOOSTER IN, 4 NC, 6 NC, 8 GND
where NC is not connceted and UB is the battery.
Therefore, I have connected the switched supply and the permanent supply from the Sony stereo to the UB pin. This means the stereo doesn't come on when I switch the igniition on and more importantly doesn't switch off when I turn the ignition off. In both cases I have to manually turn the sony stereo on and off !
This is a recipe for a flat battery with me being forgetful.
The question arises with the above connections how did the alfa 147 stereo turn on and off with the ignition turning on and off?
Anyone any ideas on how to resolve this?
