Sorry you're having issues, mine hasn't been plain sailing either!Shame about the sensor,I guess you've tried resetting the ECU?It ain't a Nissan Micra,Belts, tensioners etc.are considered consumables on these engines,I guess you could say it has decided the service interval is today! For the money you paid for it you're getting off lightly, remember the cost of it new(my 156 was BMW kind of money in 2001)
There is a bit of maintenance involved but it goes with the territory.Yours looks like it was much better looked after by it's previous owner than mine..Don't even want to tell you what I've done myself and spent, but get it sorted and I reckon it'll be good to you for quite a while. To quote yourself:
Everything you mentioned is wear & tear .
Like complaining it takes fuel .
Get the issues sorted and enjoy the car .
A breath of fresh air Danny , well quoted , thanking you kindly .
The local garage plugged it "lol notice i am saying it and not her " & reset that code .
The local garage charged 30e to part with that code , unfortunately they could not read airbag codes .
Fix It Again Tomorrow / FIAT in Galway wanted i think it was 80 yoyo to do a scan .
I can live wit a wonky or faulty fuel gauge NP , means i'll never run dry if i take it seriously, and dont complain about the fuel
The sensor i might have to live with it till next month odd till i have the smash or funds available . When in limp mode its mega economical
and still has more poke than that poxy micra .
Friend who suggested i get rid of the micra and hinted alfa is now telling me to get rid off , and is also pointing me at a 2001 going for spares in the UK with a red leather interior
wonders how red on red would look , ha ha . It has a different climate control and cruise control .
Also sorry to hear you have issues as well Dan and here is to a fault free drive , funny it was in my head what Jezza said " its all about that moment when everything works and we are driving a nice road " till i met a combine harvester and had to brake hard , i really well and truly was enjoying it ) Right down to the ABS .
Ned suggested an engine flush might sort the variator , first thing i did was an oil & filter change less than 1000 miles ago , but that's something i can do again in the meantime , with pollen & air filter , is there a fuel filter ??
I am well proficient and able , with the right tools , help and advice i could have a dozen of these on an Acre
Like said Dan thanks for restoring faith
RIGHT ~ i'm driving about with a camera in the cabin " my fone aint smart " and instinct normally stops me getting involved in an accident as i see a crash before it happens .
I am insured comp with bells and whistles ........................
"Hell mend ya "as my granny would say !
Hell slap it into ya
