Re: 147 BOSE Sub purchased - help required!
Yes, you will definately need to remove the door panel to gain access to the speakers. It's not too difficult once you've found all the screws! From memory:
Two along the bottom of the door panel recessed into the pocket, 1 in the puddle light. When you take this one out pull off the light cover and then you can unplug the light.
An allen bolt is hidden behind the plug that forms the thumb grip of the rubberised door handle - this is a complete pain to remove without scratching the handle. Probably a specialist tool for this - but the most specialist tools I have are a screwdriver and knife!
A small rectangular plug covers another screw that hides behind the crome door opener. When you've taken this one out try and pull down on the plastic surround of the opener. This should pop out giving you access to the tweater which you can then unplug.
On the drivers door, below the window switches, at the top of the recess pocket you'll find a small screw, take this one out as it holds the window switch box in place. With it removed you can try and gently remove the control box - a flat blade slid down the side may help as it's held in place by a larger version of the springs that hold a stereo in. 4 of these - two on each long side. Don't pull on the surround of the window switch as it will break off and take the rocker switches with it! Once you've got this most of the way out unplug it and I think you'll see another allen bolt or screw holding the bottom of the handle on the inside of the panel.
All that's holding the panel on know is lots of the little plastic clips that pop out.
Whilst you've got the panel off, check that the white foam sheet to firmly adhered to the door panel - the cause of my wet footwell!
Hope this helps.
