Recently purchased 156 TS Veloce

Hi people

Just bought a 2000 X plate 156 TS Veloce 1.6, which i got private for a decent price and am very happy with. However, I need a new mass air flow meter, which i believe to be a common fault on alfas. A local dealer quoted me 250 fitted which i thought may be a little steep. Anyone know what i should be paying for this?

Also i've noticed a small oil leak from just under the right hand side of the engine, the oil level has dropped slightly since i first looked (a couple of weeks ago). I will probably take this to a local garage to get looked at but should i be prepared to shell out a fortune to fix this. I'm not hugely clued-up mechanically so any advice would be welcome from you guys.

Lastly, there was no user manual with the car, which i'm desperate for as i'm still working out what everything does and where everything is! Where would be the best place to obtain one of these?

Any advice/comments would be most welcome.

Cheers (from a first-time poster)

Hey cbk,

Welcome to AO!
Use the 'search' at the top of the tool bar and put in AMF or MAF. It'll give you all the posts with the info you need.
As far as the user manual goes, you could always try ebay for a cheap one.

What mileage on the 156?

Post some piccies of the motor when you get the chance.

Does the new AFM/MAF need to be *tuned* for the ECU to recgonise it?
