Depends which belt and pulley set is causing the problem - there are 3 different ones.
First remove the auxiliary belt - just a question of getting a long 15 mm (IIRC) spanner on the tensioner and springit it back to relieve the tension and slipping the belt off. Then run the engine briefly and see if the noise goes away...if it does, the problem is either badly worn belt, the tensioner or one of the PAS pump, alternator or aircon pump....
If the noise is still there, then its strip-down and replace the Timing and balance shaft belts and tensioners (which should be done at 36K mile intervals anyway.) Many people will also suggest changing the water pump while you are doing this as it is relatively little extra cost, but a lot of extra work if you have to go back and replace it later.....
